ITS FRIDAY!

Yay its friday!! That means I have 2 days to work on stupid theory and flute tech stuff.. woooot.

So...this week was AMAZING!! Wednesday I went to a flute and harp concert (my flute professor was the flutist). And it was INCREDIBLE! Absolutely loved it. It was good to step back and remember why we are working so hard.. practicing scale after scale and ridiculous tonging patters, it is easy to just get frustrated and forget about the big picture of music. Going to the concert really helped me remember why I am doing all the work that i am. It reminded me why I love music. The satisfaction and feeling of sitting there listening to such amazing performers and teachers reminded me of how powerful music is. It inspired me to work even harder because it is worth it.

Anyway... I went to my first NAfME Collegiate meeting yesterday. For those of you who saw that and were like  "ahh, what is she talking about" : NAfME stands for National Association for Music Education. So at the college level we are called NAfME Collegiate :D and it is like Tri-M but in college. Ok anyway. We had our first meeting yesterday, and I am so excited to get involved!! We got the music educators magazine, Voice, and to my surprise, my picture was in it again. If you did not hear last spring, I wrote a little article about Tri-M that got published in Voice and to go with my article there was a picture of 2 of my tri-m officers and I with a well known music educator. That picture is also in the issue that we just got :D that was exciting!! not to mention, the ice cream at the meeting was AMAZING... anyway....  after the meeting I kinda realized that I might want to major in music education so i can go on and teach at an elementary school. Im still not sure exactly what I will do, for now I am a performance major. However, I dont exactly know what I would do with a performance degree, whereas with music ed it is something I love and would enjoy doing everyday for the rest of my life....I dont think I can say that about performing, and auditioning. So its up in the air.

Well, I hope things are going well.
